I’m very excited to share that I will soon have full-sized iridescent fairy wings for sale! I’ll be showcasing them in the artist alley at Tucson Comic-Con (11/2 – 11/4). Come out and say hi!
Available for pre-order in 2019.
“Jewel” is a 2.5 x 3.5″, or ACEO-sized, miniature painting; I took pictures as I went along and thought it would be fun to share them here.
I started out with a rough sketch based on a photo reference that I took, then painted in the background.
Finally! The mysterious forces of nature have granted me the correct lighting conditions to shoot these metallic, iridescent 5×5″ paintings. They were tricky to get good pictures of on a normal sunny Arizona day. Either the lines would look really pale from the metallic glare, or the brightness of the colors wouldn’t show. Today’s overcast sky helped me get these pictures.
I love the texture and simplicity of these little fairy studies.
Here is my very first pair of wings, completed this morning!
I used the Faerie Muse tutorial as my guide; she gives excellent details, though I admit I skimmed through some parts. (Note 9/4/2016; that tutorial has been offline for several months so I removed the link).
