Minimalist Fantasy Series

The Minimalist Fantasy series is a collection of fantasy-themed paintings with simplified forms and vibrant colors.

Dragons, fairies and fairy-cats take on an iconic presence as they dominate the canvas. This style developed from my love of crisp outlines, and the breakdown of form and ideas to flat, 2-dimensional shapes. As well as a desire to explore color relations and texture-making.

I begin with gestural drawings on poster board, then cut out the pieces with a blade to create multi-part stencils. With the design fixed early in the process, I'm able to devote my attention to the play of colors and textures.
